WQA Co-Hosts Important Chinese Water Conference

In partnership with the Chinese media outlet China Drinking Water Specialist (CDWS), the Water Quality Association (WQA) co-hosted the 2014 International Drinking Water Development Conference in Shanghai on November 14. The goal of the conference was to enhance the communication and development of the drinking water treatment industries between China and overseas countries. Its content reflected the latest trends and hot topics in the Chinese drinking water treatment industry, including international expansion, laws and regulations, research and development.

The International Drinking Water Conference was attended by 187 people, including representatives of Chinese government agencies and manufacturing companies as well as WQA members and product certification clients. China's national Ministry of Health, Center of Disease Control, and Environment Institutes were all represented.

"The conference was very helpful in getting an overall view of the global situation with regard to water treatment," said Nick Govaert, vice president and general manager of erie water treatment controls in Olen, Belgium. "Regarding China, it definitely gave a better insight in how the industry works and what challenges we're still confronted with."

During the event, WQA signed a memorandum of understanding with CDWS, through which the two parties agreed to cooperate on a variety of mutually beneficial projects.
