Serving on Boards, Committees, Task Forces & Sections
WQA's members are its lifeblood — without its member volunteers there would be no WQA. WQA is the nerve center, the brains, and the heart and soul of the entire industry. We owe it to ourselves to contribute our thoughts and our time to improve the industry that gives us all so much.
There are many ways you can contribute to—and profoundly influence—the work of WQA by serving on a task force, section, committee or board.
At the heart of WQA's governance structure is the 24-member board of directors. Eight of those 24 directors comprise the Association's board of governors. The Water Quality Research Foundation is governed by its own six-member board of directors.
The major supervisory committees organize and supervise the work of the Task Forces. They include the Government Relations Committee, Market Development Committee, Member Professional Development Committee, Gold Seal Steering Committee, Nominating Committee and Water Sciences Committee.
Sections are the Association’s business drivers. A section meeting is open to all members in that line of business. Members in each Section will identify the key issues of concern to their own Section. Each of the Sections will then report to the Board of Directors and Governors, where their issues and priorities will be carefully studied along with those of the other sections. The boards create the Association’s budget and then allocate resources to essential industry priorities. There are three sections: the Dealer Section, the Commercial/Industrial Section and the International Section.
The Association often commissions working units called task forces. Members generally serve on a task force for one- or two-year terms. Current task forces include:
- Commercial Education Task Force
- Convention Task Force
- Final Barrier Task Force
- Industrial Education Task Force
- International Standards & Regulations Task Force
- Membership Recruitment & Retention Task Force
- Residential Education Task Force
- Technical Fact Sheet Task Force
